The Story behind Makilla Gorilla
Makilla Gorilla is a hybrid of DC MAK and APE, both of those on their own are legendary cultivars, but making a hybrid between the two makes for a mushroom that is truly mind blowing! The story of Makilla Gorilla starts way back in the 70s. Although this strain is new, its lineage certainly isn’t.
That’s because both parent strains come from the legendary Penis Envy (PE). First isolated in the 1970s, Penis Envy strains are the most potent psilocybin cubensis strains. Over the past decades, the PE strain has been continuously refined and perfected. One of the most significant breakthroughs was from a company called Homestead.
In the 80s, they cultured the PE strain until they produced a monstrous mutation called Melmac. Only recently did the Melmac strain surface again and become an instant hit. Not long after, a well known famous shroom breeder known as DC took the strain and ran with it. He made the strain larger and more potent, creating the DC Melmak strain.
The final piece of the puzzle is the Albino Penis Envy (APE) strain. APE is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after strains in the world. That’s because APE is white as a sheet, simple to grow, and intensely potent.
Finally, someone had the idea to put these two strains together and see what happens. The result of that experiment became the Makilla Gorilla strain.
When fresh, the fruiting bodies of this strain grow incredibly tall and thick. While regular PE strains have a small cap, Makilla Gorilla caps spread wide. Often, the edges of the cap can appear pleated or wavy. Interestingly, this strain doesn’t inherit the albino qualities of the parent APE strain. Instead, the color of the caps is typically a light brown to golden color
Makilla Gorilla is a strain that isn’t for the faint of heart. They’re super potent, so you need to take it easy when using them recreationally.
